The choice

If you read about the people who have made it in this world You'll understand more perfectly just how your life unfurled You start out believing that truth is in its path But the more of it you live the more you see the aftermath Jesus prayed in the garden for the souls his Father gave, Then went to the cross for the souls he came to save "If you were of the world," he said, "the world would love its own," Instead, they hate you, they attack you, or they leave you alone The choice is simple when you let yourself see That you once were chained to sin but now you are free If you were of the world that now you're just in You know the blessing's here, not in the world of sin You're going to follow Jesus or you're going to be lost, But if you follow Jesus, you will have to count the cost Would you rather gain the whole world and lose your own soul or lose this world and gain the One who made you whole? You are not of the world, he chose you to be with him, And the world can't give you joy and life full to the brim. The choice is simple when you let yourself see That you once were chained to sin but now you are free If you were of the world that now you're just in You know the blessing's here, not in the world of sin "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" (Mark 8:38)
