All that matters
The only thing that really matters
Is what matters in eternity.
Sixty-seven people lost their lives last night
In an instant, but did they lose their souls?
Do we think their value is determined
by their earthly roles?
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36)
Jesus came into the world to save,
And his Word makes it clear,
"Look up and lift up your heads,
because your redemption draws near."
"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars;
and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity,
the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them
from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth,
for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Then they will see the Son of Man comng in a cloud with power and great glory.
Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads,
because your redemption draws near" (Luke 21:25-28).
"You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends..." (Luke 21:16) If it hasn't happened to you, remember, if it happened to him it can happen to you. But nothing else matters
but what matters in eternity, and that is the salvation of your soul. And you don't know when this life
can be torn away from you without warning.
Jesus spoke about the time of his coming that would be like the days of Noah:
"For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be" (Matthew 24:38-39).
Just a word about all that matters on a Thursday night...
