None More Beautiful
None more beautiful
She was just so beautiful
Every feature of her face
I can't take my eyes away
just an old picture
for a passport maybe
I'm just trying to say
In all my life I never saw anyone
more beautiful
I miss her so
She never looked anything but
beautiful
Never won a contest
Never stole a show
But she was more beautiful than them all
I will never understand how any man
especially not my dad
could have left her for anyone
Oh yes she was beautiful inside too
I guess she didn't know
I wonder if in that picture
he had already started to wander
Does that explain the sad look in her eyes?
She was beautiful young, beautiful old
Beautiful the last time saw her alive
Never got to say goodbye
Never got to know she was dying
But she knew that I was loving her
We had reconciled
We had enjoyed the candied almonds
held hands and laughed and cried
she was beautiful the day she died
I had missed her for a long time
But she had lost so much
And left so much behind
Never got to go back home
And the cherished dream was stolen
And that's what happens
Even to the most beautiful of them all
He broke her heart
And he broke mine too
A great chasm in my frame
Left a raw and gaping wound
That is what happens
When families are broken
No one wants to take the blame
And others want to say, "For shame,
"Don't worry, move on,
"Life is hard for everyone."
And so it is
But sometimes I just have to wonder
how things might have been
And yet I am thankful now
to have known her and to have been her child
(if only for a little while)
Even though sometimes I ask myself
As much as I knew about her, yet
Did I really even know her?
But right now I know
As sad as I can be right now
I'm glad that she was mine
if only for a time
She has gone
to be with God
And I will follow soon
But what got my attention just now
was only that there were
none more beautiful
and that's for sure
"God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried
into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Thought the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah" (Psalm 46:1-3)
