Nothing I Would Rather Do
(Tonight I tried a little a-b-a-c rhyme pattern for a change; kind of freeing)
I didn't see the stars tonight
I suppose because of the clouds
Fill me, once again, with Your light
Events have hidden it from view
Things of the world have entered in
And blocked the fullness of Your joy
I understand the work of sin
that still seeks the ascendency
There is nothing I would rather do
Than listen to Your still small voice
Sit by a crackling fire with You
And imagine You here face to face
Just You in all Your tender love
Wrap me in Your unseen arms
Reaching me from high up above
Melting me down like a candle
My resistance to Your dealing
Can't keep You away forever
Your faithfulness brings the healing
And rest at the end of the day
There is nothing I would rather do
Than listen to Your still small voice
Sit by a crackling fire with You
And imagine You here face to face
