Cast Your Care Upon the LORD
Cast Your Care Upon the LORD
February 5, 2025
I have a few rhymes I want to share that I have been putting in my notes this week:
Life is going by so fast
Like sand in an hour glass
It must be pretty easy to die
Since everyone does it by and by
I'm getting tired of talking to myself
My dreams getting dusty on the shelf
I say good morning to a wall
But it won't answer me at all
I heard some bad news today
Someone I love is going away
I won't try to make him stay,
He never visits anyway.
These are some rhymes I have randomly jotted down during the week, and I am going to label them "Before." Before what? Before I snapped out of my bummed out frame of mind, aka "stinkin' thinkin'."
I actually don't have any rhymes representing the "after" right now because I'm a little pressed for time. When I get them, I'll share them with you.
But tonight I feel sorry for anyone who does not know God, and I think that's an improvement over feeling sorry for myself and angry. I just found a handful of Bible verses that bear the theme of casting your burden on the Lord, because they make all the difference in the world.
So, here is the "After" of the "Before and After."
"Cast your burden on the LORD,
And He shall sustain you,
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22).
"Commit your works to the LORD,
And your thoughts will be established" (Proverbs 16:3).
"Casting all your care upon Him, for He
cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).
And finally,
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
"Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
"For My yoke is easy and My burden is light" (Matthew 11:30).
What makes the difference between those depressing lines above and the encouragement found in the Bible verses? I went to my home group, I went to be with my small church family, and I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Jesus didn't only come to take away our sins and keep us out of hell. He also came to lighten our load in this life, every day, in every way, day and night. He said he would never leave us or forsake us but be with us until the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). And for this I am eternally grateful.
So, these verses are a great help to me when I'm going through something that is distressing or disturbing or feels like a gut punch from Satan himself. I hope they are an encouragement to you. And I have very little time tonight, because I do need to go to work in the morning. Goodnight and God bless.
