Link Between Common Core and Not Teaching Cursive
Okay, from one day of research, I have discovered what the deal is about not teaching cursive writing.Common Core does not require it but requires "keyboarding skills." It takes up too much time from teaching "keyboarding skills." I might have known.
It's all a scam to sell Internet products! They don't care that much if people can read (books, oh, no, heaven forbid, we must eliminate books so everyone can read online), understand what they're reading (what for? not much worthwhile is being written), speak intelligently why speak when you can surf the net on your smartphone?).
And, don't forget, we must go to a "paperless" society (too many trees have died in the cause of print technology, not to mention, handwriting letters - nobody needs to do that anymore. Takes up too much time, too much thought, oh, no, we can't have that.)
I learned to type in high school. We didn't need to learn "keyboarding skills" in elementary school. We were too busy learning reading, writing (so we could sign our name and how to --ugh! oh, no, there's that word again - WRITE letters or -what? TAKE NOTES). Oh, no, we can't have that. That would be "clinging to the past."
The Almighty Internet wins again. Brains wither up. People can't talk face to face. People can't sign their name except with an "X" on a keyboard.
P.S. And don't forget all the TESTING that needs to be done year in and year out. That takes up a bunch of valuable time too.
Oh, please, Jesus, do come back soon.
