Other People's Sins Easier to Spot Than Your Own?
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5
I have noticed something lately more clearly than ever. Sin is like a magnifying glass enabling you to see clearly the wrong everyone else is doing but blinding you to the wrong in your own heart and the wrong you are doing. Never saw this so clearly before.
Spiritual blindness comes with the sin nature we are born with. Until we repent of our sin and choose Jesus Christ, we are deceived by the enemy of our souls. We are in fact "taken captive" by him to "do his will (II Timothy 2:24-26)."
We are not only doing his will but following him into hell and into the lake of fire to burn forever.
Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God, born in a stable in Bethlehem, fulfilling the prophecy most clearly expressed in Isaiah 53, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, is our only hope, our only Savior.
