Few Ever Find the Gateway to Life
"Straight is the gate and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." --Jesus Christ, Matthew 7:14 (King James Version)
"But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it." (New International Version)
I am not believing what a dark age we are living in. How so many could be so deceived and so lost and confused and what's worse? Satisfied in themselves without knowing God. I'll never understand it. And it really hurts me as God reveals more and more about the state of humankind without Him-- refusing, rejecting, proudly scoffing the light God has given, and going to an eternity without any light or life or hope. And yet I must believe there are some who are actually seeking to know Him.
I read recently that American culture has not acknowledged God since the 18th century. That's the 1700s, folks. Back then perhaps not everybody believed in God, but culturally the biblical ethics and morals were accepted. Today, they are not. Society slides downhill and everybody just says, "The times are changing." They're changing, all right, and clearly not for the better.
I found a college textbook on children's literature from 1964. The author said that although biblical literature was not allowed in public schools anymore, we really should be more concerned about children NOT being familiar with the Bible than about them being exposed to it, because it was, besides being great literature, the best book ever written dealing with ethics and morals. Such a statement would not even be allowed in a college textbook today. People, keep praying and keep loving and keep shining your light.
