Oh, Daylight Savings Time Again, You're Gonna Leave Me

We are rapidly approaching the months of darkness. I refer to the return of Standard Time. At 2:00 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, we "fall back." That is only two weeks away! Two weeks of daylight left to us. Thankfully, Daylight Savings Time will return to us the second Sunday of March. The schedule was amended by Congress in 2005 to extend DST somewhat, so starting in 2007 we have had the current schedule. Therefore, I am grateful that DST will return the second Sunday of March; that is not so long to wait, I suppose. Originally, it was six months of each, I believe. You can read about it on Wikipedia; there is quite a history about Daylight Savings Time (I see it may be officially Daylight Saving Time, singular, but I'm used to saying "Daylight Savings Time," hope you don't mind). I am very grateful also that I get off work at 3:00 and not 4:00 or 5:00, and yet I know a lot of people are just as happy as they can be for the darkness to fall earlier, whereas I most definitely am not. You would think that knowing that many people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), that the powers that be would be a little considerate and just go ahead and let us have DST year around, but then the people who love the darkness would complain. I almost want to sing, "Oh, Daylight Savings Time again, You're gonna leave me. I can see the time has come for longer nights. I can tell by the way darkness is falling, oh, it won't be long before it's Standard Time." I know. That was terrible. I mean, someone might have appreciated it. But most people probably won’t. But that's okay, I enjoyed writing it, nonetheless. And now I am going to learn "Cryin' Time;" it will be easy, and then I can read a little before retiring. Goodnight.
