Flub-ups and Redemption

Today started out great. I decided to go ahead and get up and go to two events, one at 8:00 and the other one at 9:00. Well, that was after much thought, because on Saturday mornings, I am not usually even up by 8:00. And then, after all that, when I got to the place, I discovered that the event was not until next Saturday morning! So, then I went to the library and found the door to the room where the book sales are usually happening was locked. That's weird, I thought, and then, lo and behold, I discovered that that event wasn't until next week either. So...there I was, two strikes, what else could I screw up? Oh, well, it was kind of nice being out and about on a nice, moderately cool morning in October, so I decided why not go ahead and go to the gym and get on the bike, which I did and stayed on it for an hour. After that, I didn't get much done. Oh, yeah, one more flub-up. I heated up the other cup of tomato soup I opened last night, and spread butter and peanut butter on a piece of bread, and then I went and dumped some grated cheddar cheese into it before I realized the cheese was no good, so I went into that soup and tried to fish all the little pieces of cheese out. I got a lot out and put into the garbage disposal, but the little bit that remained had already done its damage, so I had to throw the rest of the soup out too. So, did I do anything right today? I wasted a whole bunch of time trying to decide what I wanted to eat for dinner. What I really wanted was to find someone to go to the North Star Steak House with me. But that didn't happen. I thought about going to Hog Wild, but decided against it. So, I went to Dillon's and got a greatly marked down whole deli chicken ( for $2.80) and a slab of ribs (for $6.30). I got organic red grapes, pepper jack cheese for my lunches and a half gallon of milk at Aldi, and when I got home I had a wonderful time eating a couple of St. Louis Style ribs and a lemon herb chicken wing, so that went a long way (about a 10) on the comfort food scale. Oh, and there was one other redeeming event, I got to watch "Secondhand Lions" on Tubi TV, and it was even better than I thought it was going to be. I love Robert Duvall and Michael Caine, and I think it was so interesting how one could detect exactly zero of an English accent. He sounded as rustic and Appalachian as any old redneck I have ever heard or seen in a movie. Kyra Sedgwick's southern accent, on the other hand, was kind of fake. I have never understood why female actors almost always screw up southern accents, but male actors do them just fine. So, now, I must go and practice my bass a little bit, because I found out I was playing that in the morning. I only do it once a month and I don't like practicing it. I'm looking for an acoustic one. My electric one is heavy, I have to practice it unplugged because, well, just because. You can hear it when it's not amplified, enough for practicing, so that's what I'm going to go do now. Well, I guess I'll just have to start being more assertive and think of someone to ask to go with me to the North Star. Life is just so complicated these days.
