Holiday Time Rhyme
Here come the holidays and here comes Standard Time,
Of all the hooplah, the rhythm and the rhyme
I'm so tired I could just go to sleep right here,
But I'm glad for Thanksgiving and for Christmas cheer
It's been a dreary week, all wind and clouds and drizzle,
But good riddance to the heat that makes the sidewalks sizzle!
I love this season, the reason for the orange trees
Even though tonight they say will be the first fall freeze
Holiday Time Rhyme, did I leave the first one out?
It's the one most everyone seems to want to shout about
Costumes, candy, and scary films once were my delight
But truth be told, they are no more since I saw the light
I don't mean to offend, and I really can't explain
I'm not here to judge, and I really can't complain
Everyone has their favorites, this one's just not mine
I just cling to Jesus, I'm the branches, he's the vine
Holiday Time Rhyme, did I leave the first one out?
It's the one most everyone seems to want to shout about
Costumes, candy, and scary films once were my delight
But truth be told, they are no more since I saw the light
