The Gifts of God
I'm only showing up to bare my soul
Inside is now full where once was a hole
An emptiness, an ache nothing could fill
And seemed like life's journey was all uphill
Who am I anyway? Who are you too?
Do we even know ourselves, me and you?
We're all sinners who don't want to let go
But there's something you really need to know
The gifts of God are plentiful and rare
Beautiful and He is gracious to share
But the gift of Himself is the rarest of all
And gifts without Him will cause you to fall
It's been a longer journey than I thought
But I'm glad that I finally got caught
When I met God and got stopped in my tracks
Found out my theology had some cracks
There was some excitement along the way
Some expectation of a brighter day
So if you're not completely sold on now
And you'd like to change but you don't know how
The gifts of God are plentiful and rare
Beautiful and He is gracious to share
But the gift of Himself is the rarest of all
And gifts without Him will cause you to fall
