Is The Whole World On Fire?

Is the whole world on fire? Is L.A. being ravaged by people in the country illegally who don't want to be deported, or is it just being laid siege to by paid entities like Antifa who live to create havoc and will pay you $150 a day to burn and loot and attack law enforcement? And then Israel attacks Iran, and we know this is a very serious situation we have entered into. Is everybody ready for this? What if this is World War III and Russia and China decide to attack the United States? Is everybody ready for an atomic bomb? Is everybody ready to die? Is everybody ready for the coming of Jesus Christ? There is so much confusion on every front. I just heard Bill Maher asserting that the people who wrote the gospels could not have been Christ's contemporaries because the book of Mark was only written in the year 70. I have yet to figure out, if that is true, how this proves that the writer of Mark was not alive when Jesus was. He even went so far as to say most Christians "don't know anything about their religion" because of this piece of information. It only demonstrates to me that some people want to cast doubt on the authenticity of the gospels. The point is really not whether or not the gospels were really written by these individuals, even though I believe they were, the point is the stories are internally consistent, and the message of the gospels is very clear. That's what's important to believe. However, the fact that they were written late doesn't prove to me that they were not who they said they were, but that if they wrote it then, they were just very old. I suppose if you wanted to argue about it you could say maybe somebody else, a scribe, say, actually wrote the gospels based on the accounts of the original disciples. But to say they were just "somebody with the same name" as the disciples is going a bit too far in my opinion. Anyway, opinions don't really matter when it comes to the Lordship of Christ and the message of the gospels. Jesus, as many have said, is either a liar, a lunatic or the Lord. And as C.S. Lewis said, there never was any room for such nonsense as he was just a "good teacher" or "just a prophet." A prophet? Do prophets lie? Do prophets say, "I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except by me?" I don't think so. The only one qualified to say that is the Son of God. So, the world is filled with doubters. We know that. And God didn't command us to argue with anyone about it. Contending for the faith does not mean arguing with scoffers. The Bible says quite a bit about that. We have only been commanded to "preach the gospel" not to argue about it. It's pretty plain to me. All my life people simply told me, "Jesus died for your sins," and, "You need to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior," or, "You need to repent and believe the gospel." After a while it sunk in, and I was a church goer all my life, but I wasn't converted until I was 33 years old. Simple, simple, simple, no need to argue about whether or not the writers of the gospel were the real disciples. Honestly, I never heard that, but it's obviously just something someone came up with to sow doubt in people's minds. I just can't understand why people don't think they need their sins forgiven. I just don't understand that. God himself makes it very clear who he is as soon as you acknowledge that you need his forgiveness. And if you don't think you do, I don't know what to tell you. We are living in the last days. You can read about the last days in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, and also later on in 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Hebrews and the book of Revelation. The verse that really spoke to me today was Isaiah 26:3, perhaps my "life verse," if I have one. In the New King James, it says: "You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You." It's the best verse in the Bible for giving peace in the midst of chaos. Tomorrow there are supposed to be a whole lot of demonstrations in all the big cities across the country. Demonstrations against the president, mostly. Well, all I have to say to these people is, "Knock yourselves out." People have to do what they have to do, I just hope the entities like Antifa and funders of the violence in L.A. keep their distance. I will put my trust in the Lord, for now and forever.
