A New Elixir: Trying Turmeric Tonight
Well, today I tried 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric in my warm vanilla milk, mixed with stevia, vanilla, a little cinnamon sugar I still have lying around and some vanilla. It's called "Golden Milk," and if you want to read about it, there's plenty of articles and recipes out there on the web for you to try. I just used what I had. They even recommend black pepper to go with it. I put a little of that in it too, but not enough to taste.
I had a little jar of organic turmeric sitting around here for ages. My mom used to cook with it. She was English and I think it may be something that goes in some Indian food. My mom used to make curry a lot when I was a kid. Maybe that's why I'm alive and healthy today, no prescription drugs, for example, none, zero, and I would like to keep it that way.
The recipe I looked at recommended 1/4 a cup of turmeric to start, if you're not used to it. The little drink I made was delightful, I'll tell you that. I'm sure you could experiment with different things. They have teas and recipes for lattes out on the web, and lots of variety. For example, a lot of the recipes say to add maple syrup, and others recommend honey, so you see you can try different things.
I read this one article in "Women's World" at the gym that said 500 milligrams three times a day for a month is supposed to help your arthritis and I read that it's supposed to help heal cancer, depression and I think they might have mentioned cognitive function, which I am highly interested in these days.
Here's a quote from the Harvard Medical School publication I just found: "Turmeric has been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine to treat conditions such as skin disorders, respiratory problems, joint pain relief, and digestive disorders. More recently, turmeric has become a popular dietary supplement promoted to benefit a variety of conditions including arthritis, digestive disorders, depression, and allergies, among others." Among others I saw mentioned elsewhere was good for cognitive function, and, as I mentioned just now, I could surely use some help with that.

Last night I told you I went to be early and I'm telling you I cannot describe how much better I felt today after work, so I'm going to try to go to bed early tonight too. I highly recommend it. Of course, if you don't have to get up in the morning, you may not be interested in going to bed early, but I will probably be doing that until I drop dead on the job.
I can say I feel healthier--kind of warm and tingly-- after drinking that "golden milk." (Well, I did eat some broccoli earlier. That might have helped too.) I am going to keep drinking it and see what else it might do. If it does all that they say it does, I'm sure I will be doing even better as time goes by. And so, I am going to start getting ready to retire. I wish you all a goodnight and God bless you. Carolyn
