He Has Said What He Has Said and Acted As He Has Acted
Trump has said what he has said and acted as he has acted. His supporters say the mainstream media are distorting things. Perhaps they do in the sense of what they may be saying about Trump. But still my perception is that Trump is quite transparent about his beliefs and his attitude is that of a cocksure superstar wrestler, certainly not that of a leader. Not presidential at all. Scary in fact. Not to mention vulgarity and disrespect. It's just not acceptable. It's all on the videos. Unless they are faking them, it's pretty clear what he's about. I'm not saying he's "all bad" but if "what you see is what you get" I don't want to get that. Our country only needs that to the extent that we unite over the division at some point. And in that case he would be good for us in spite of him and not because of him.
Speaking of which I finally heard Jerry Falwell, Jr.'s endorsement of Trump on Christian radio. He's basically excusing Trump -- or ignoring his Christianity or lack thereof -- because "we're not electing a Sunday School superintendent" (not sure I quoted that exactly--something like that, anyway). Hello? Because, in other words, he speaks his mind and calls 'em like he sees 'em or whatever, he should be elected president? And flipping people the bird and being rude and vulgar is suddenly appropriate for a presidential candidate?
My friend and co-worker Denise Harding made a great point this morning. Last election the "evangelicals" were all over Romney because he was a Mormon and now they're ignoring Trump's absolute un-Christian-like behavior? What has happened since then?
Again, the only way this can be good for the country is if we find something to unite about and if it opens up true dialog.
None of the candidates inspire me at all. Not one of them, and that is sad. Now it seems everybody is talking about how they'd all support whoever the nominee is. Well, I'm not so sure about that.
Another friend, Elman Authement said if Trump were elected he'd probably be impeached the first year and then you'd see the Republicans and Democrats uniting real quick. I love that. We'll just have to see, but I still think the country wants Hillary. Like it or not. Nor saying I do.
I am completely disappointed in "evangelicals" right now. John MacArthur was talking this morning about how you couldn't say you were saved because of an event ("I said the sinner's prayer when I was 10") or because of mental assent (the devil believes and trembles), so I'm hoping some of that gets straightened out here pretty soon as well.
