I Can Promise You That

I Can Promise You That April 5, 2026 Today was Easter, or Resurrection Sunday. It has been a very long time since I dyed eggs. I also remember that this time last year there was some problem with eggs where they were too expensive for me to buy. I only eat about two a week, but even so, I wouldn't pay the outlandish price they were charging, and I didn't believe the reason for the exorbitant price hike. I don't believe anything the press says about anything anymore anyway. I believe the Bible. I can't prove to you that there is a God. I can't prove to you that Jesus is the Messiah promised in the Hebrew Scriptures aka the Old Testament. I believe in the New Covenant. I believe it is called the New Testament because it's talking about the New Covenant that we have with God through Jesus. The New Testament tells us all the stories of Jesus by four of his disciples/apostles and tells us the story of Saul of Tarsus, a Jew who became a follower of Jesus and wrote most of the New Testament as he was inspired by the Holy Spirit. I have been particularly taken by the story in Luke 24, especially the part known as "The Road to Emmaus" where after his Resurrection, he approaches the women who had discovered the empty tomb (Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and other women who told the apostles about what they found). Jesus comes up to them and asks them what they were talking about. "And He said to them, 'What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?'" (verse 17) "Then the one whose name was Cleopas answered and said to Him, 'Are You the only stranger in Jerusalem, and have You not known the things which happened there in these days?' They did not recognize him. They did not know that it was Jesus they were asking if he was "the only stranger in Jerusalem." (verse 18) 'And He said to them, 'What things?' (verse 19) You'll have to look up Luke 24 and read it for yourself, but they were sad because they thought someone had taken his body away. So, they told him they were hoping it was He who was going to redeem Israel, and today was the third day when he would rise again from the dead. Angels had told them he was alive but they had yet to see him. “Then He said to them, ‘These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.’ And He opened their understanding that they might comprehend the Scriptures” (Verses 44-45). I believe the Bible. I believe it is all "breathed by God" or inspired by God, so that all of it from the beginning of Genesis to the end of Revelation is inspired by God. I can't prove it to you. I can't convince you of it. All I can do is what I am inspired to do by the Holy Spirit and what I believe I have been commanded to do, that is to share the truth that is in the Bible to the best of my ability and live the life that is pleasing to God one day at a time. All I can testify is that God has changed my life immeasurably and is still changing it continuously, 24/7, day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. I feel his presence all the time. I am never not aware of his presence. I know that he is with me all the time and that he will be with me always and forever. I know that sin separates people from God and the Jesus came away to "take away the sins of the world," and that whoever repents of their sin and believes in Jesus and is baptized, symbolizing death, burial and resurrection and the birth of a new creation, a new life, eternal life will be saved and their life will never be the same. Guaranteed. I can't convince you of anything, but I can promise you that. One more thing. Today my wandering Jew plant produced three (3) blossoms. Three for the Triune Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I have had it for three years and it hasn't had a blossom since it was a sprig in a glass of water. Last week it produced three on three different days. Today it produced three. And each blossom has three petals. You can say what you want, but I know that was a message from God, a reminder of who he is, the King of the Universe, the Maker of all things visible and invisible, the Lord and giver of life and I know that you will never regret giving your life to him. I can’t convince you of anything but I can promise you that. Have a good week. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Follow Him now.
