Does Everybody Go to Heaven When They Die?

Got to see an old friend today who had a pretty close brush with death. Another friend just lost someone very dear to her. Death is the last battle. Death is the "wages of sin." But for a believer, death is not the end. Death is the beginning. Lately, I can't seem to stop thinking about my mom. She's in heaven now, and so is my dad. I miss her. I can't wait to see her again. I want to talk to her. I wonder if she sees what's going on down here. Jesus said, "He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live" (John 11:25). I believe that. He rose from the dead and as he rose from the dead I will also rise from the dead and live forever with him and all who have put their trust in him as their Savior. Heaven isn't for everybody. Evil, unrepentant people will not go to heaven when they die. Nice people who have not repented of their sin and believed the gospel will not go to heaven when they die. It is a crime that many people believe that everybody goes to heaven because that's what they were taught growing up and nobody corrected them. Nobody taught them. I don't know what the churches were doing all the years when I was growing up. They must not have been telling people that. I know they weren't telling me that in my denomination. And I notice today the churches are selling out to the world, compromising with the world, saying everything God condemns in the Bible is just fine. But the Bible doesn't teach that everybody goes to heaven. The only people that go to heaven are the people who have believed God. The Bible has made it all very clear, but most people don't care enough about where they're going when they die to even read what it says. Without even reading it for themselves, they get it secondhand from other people who don't read it either and they are not going to heaven when they die if they don't turn from their sin. "Oh, but there are lots of religions," they say, or, "They are nice people," or, "They are moral people, good people, everybody makes mistakes, nobody's perfect, and God wouldn't send people to hell. He wouldn't be good if he did that." People who say such things have no idea what they are saying. They just don't like what the Bible says, just like many people didn't like what Jesus said when he was here on earth. That's why they crucified him. But he rose again and he is seated at God's right hand, interceding for his people. We are very blessed in America to have so many Bibles. Too bad people don't seem to know much about what it says. And I am no preacher. But I have been a believer for many years and God keeps being with me like he promised and will be with me forever. I am closer to my death than my birth and I have learned that there is nothing here to make me want to stay. God has shown me what this world is all about. And without Jesus, people are "lost and without hope and without God in the world" (Ephesians 2:12-20). I learn every day more truth that is in the Bible. If I had learned it all in about a year or two it probably would have exploded my head, but God is kind and merciful and gentle with his children. He will not be kind and gentle when the time comes for him to pour out his wrath that he has been holding back so more people can turn to him and be saved. But right now, he is holding it back. Nonetheless his wrath is resting on unrepentant sinners. "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him" (John 3:36). We have been told to "warn every man" (Colossians 1:28). I'm just doing my little part to follow that instruction. Forewarned is forearmed. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might! (Ephesians 6:10-12).
