Whose Definition of 'The American Dream' is This?
As we watch the Democratic Party descend into the depths of far-left extremism aka "Democratic Socialism" aka Marxism aka Communism, I near the term "The American Dream" being bandied about by politicians on both sides. I don't know about you, but I am still in shock to see all of the leaders of the Democratic Party line up behind Zohran Mamdani, an avowed Socialist: Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and of course Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). I am seriously at a loss to wrap my mind around this betrayal of the American people. I guess they must believe that "we the people" have all been converted to Socialism. I don't know how I missed that.
I most recently heard it from Andy Beshear, the Democratic Governor of Kentucky, praising the mayor-elect of New York City, a self-identified Socialist and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). It's difficult to realize how this is happening in America; however, it is somewhat comforting that almost half of New York City (about 49%) did not vote for Mamdani. It remains to be seen what will be left of the grandeur of New York City within a few months.
I have heard the real estate industry in Florida and other states is booming, as New Yorkers plan their move out of the city.
This guy yells in the same frenzied manner as we see in the videos of Hitler, and I see a lot of irony here. First of all, the Left accusing the current administration of being "Nazi," seeming to forget that the Nazis were Socialists. Secondly, touting Communist strategies such as government run wealth redistribution as a way to revive the American Dream, seeming to forget that Capitalism fueled and has always fueled the American Dream. Robbing the rich to provide for the needy as some sort of modern-day Robin Hood has never been the American Dream. (Remember AOC’s dress decorated with the words "Tax the Rich," as if the rich are not already paying taxes.)
I am so over politics right now. But we can't just lay down and let the Democratic Socialists of America take over our country, which is exactly what they intend to do. Mamdani in his speech spoke in threatening terms about how the president couldn't come for him without coming for all the rest of his movement, whoever they are.
According to Ben Shapiro, the majority of Mamdani voters were immigrants, college-educated and female. You can follow him and find out a whole lot more specific similar statistics but I don't intend to list them all. I am just concerned to see this trend and strongly believe that it is time for all Americans to get involved with politics at some level above no involvement at all, which is, apparently, where most Americans are settled into at this point.
Researching the Democratic Socialists of America might be a good starting place. Shapiro made several horrendous quotes from their website. First of all, they appeal to workers, which, anyone who grew up in the 60s would know was the mantra of the Communists. Ironically, the workers of the United States have never in the past supported Socialism or Communism, but have been staunchly Capitalist in orientation, stressing instead, safer working conditions, higher wages, but not Socialism or Communism. So, I don't know how that is going to work.
I suggest you go yourself to their website. You will be amazed at how transparent and brazenly Communist this organization is. That is, basically, taking from the wealthy (aka wealth redistribution) to provide for the "worker." This is so counter to the American work ethic for generations, I don't know how this can succeed. I certainly pray and hope that it does not. American workers have been glad to work to provide for their families, that is, until recently.
Lately, we are hearing more and more stories of people "living off the government." Where does that right come from? We are playing with fire, in a word. We have created a welfare state, and it is not going to be easy to correct this. I believe we Americans are going to have to do some serious soul searching, praying, researching and/or possibly even, who knows, speaking out, in the face of this Frankenstein we have created.
