Get Ready for God

I just have a feeling God is getting ready to let some people know who he is. All through the prophetic books we see God speaking about his intentions toward rebellious people and nations, especially in Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, and numerous times we see words like these: "The slain shall fall in your midst, and you shall know that I am the LORD. "Yet I will leave a remnant, so that you may have some who escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the countries. Then those of you who escape will remember Me among the nations where they are carried captive because I was crushed by their adulterous heart which has departed from Me, and by their eyes which play the harlot after their idols; they will loathe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. And they shall know that I am the LORD; I have not said in vain that I would bring this calamity upon them" (Ezekiel 6:7-10). We have heard that God is a jealous God, and here we see this expressed in these words: "because I was crushed by their adulterous heart which has departed from Me, and their eyes which play the harlot after their idols" (verse 9). In Jeremiah 16:21, God states, "Therefore behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know My hand and My might; And they shall know that My name is the LORD." I was struck by a passage in Isaiah 29 last night. Verse 8 says, "It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams, And look--he eats; But he awakes, and his soul is still empty; Or as when a thirsty man dreams, And look--he drinks; But he awakes, and indeed he is faint, And his soul still craves: So, the multitude of all the nations shall be, Who fight against Mount Zion." This passage went straight into my heart because it speaks of the emptiness of the hearts of so many people who have been fighting God all their life. I was fortunate enough to be apprehended by the Lord when I was just 33, but so many go on and on looking for satisfaction in everything that the world offers and coming up empty. Even as a person who has been born again for many years, I am frequently and painfully aware of my wandering heart, and I pray every day for the Lord to never let go of me. He has promised to keep us from falling, and he has promised to be with us until the end. Still, I am uneasy so much of the time when I feel a sense of drifting, even if very slight. I want nothing less than my first love. In Revelation 2:5, Jesus says, "Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the first works; or else I will come to you quickly and will remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent." So, we see the only answer for a wandering or drifting heart is to repent and do the first works, and for anyone who has not been born again, there is no time like the present. "We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says: 'In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.' "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:1-2). He is trying to get your attention and mine.
