'The Whole Head is Sick, and the Whole Heart Faints'

"The whole head is sick and the whole heart faints" (Isaiah 1:5b). The letter "b" means there are a couple of lines above it in the verse. I know that Isaiah was describing the moral decay of Judah. "Alas, sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the LORD, They have provoked to anger The Holy One of Israel, They have turned away backward. Why should you be stricken again? You will revolt more and more. The whole head is sick, And the whole heart faints. From the sole of the foot even to the head, There is no soundness in it, But wounds and bruises and putrifying sores, They have not been closed or bound up, Or soothed with ointment" (Isaiah 1:4-6). If this doesn't sound like us, I don't know what does. There's more: "Your country is desolate, Your cities are burned with fire; Strangers devour your land in your presence; And it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers" (Isaiah 1:7). You can go read it for yourself, so you won't think I am quoting Scripture out of context. I just know that that is how I feel about what's happening in our country right now, people talking about civil war and accusing one another of destroying the country. It certainly looks like somebody is trying to destroy the country, and it just depends who you talk to if you want to know who is doing the destroying. People thinking it's okay to kill people, worshipping people who kill corporate CEOs and young conference speakers and podcasters who develop a following. So, this individual who killed Charlie Kirk allegedly told his roommate/lover that he did it because of the hate he perceived the young father and husband was spewing. So, what kind of mind cooks up a rationale for killing someone for what you think is hate? Does he not think killing someone is an act of hate? On top of all the media spin and political back and forth in Washington DC we have to see this young man on the news every day now--for how long? I loved watching him when he was alive, but now that he's gone it just hurts me to see videos of him displayed on network news every time I turn on something. Of course, I don't have to turn it on. I haven't been turning it on for weeks, and then this happened. I'm not watching as much, and part of what I saw today was at the gym on a cable station because I don't have cable. I need to get back to my reading, I am sick at heart, though, and I feel like "my whole head is sick and my whole heart faints, from the sole of the foot even to the head." I am sick to death of the sinful state of our culture, and I think it's really gone down the toilet since 1973, and you know what I'm referring to. Since then we have really sunk down into a state of what many refer to as a "culture of death," and that is exactly what we're seeing now. No respect for human life is the root cause of all this. But, of course, the people who don't want to believe that want to have a lot of talk about other things that might be the cause of it: mental illness, etc. But, oh, sexual perversion of every form should no longer be called a mental illness, no, we'll just promote that in our culture, and pedophiles should just be called "minor attracted people," etc. Well, I hope and I pray that our country turns around soon before there is no longer anything called Western Civilization. I do believe there is a movement taking place across the nation and around the world for the return of sanity, but not before we see a lot more horror unfolding. And I believe that Christianity will be the leader in this movement, and we will see more and more people returning to the Lord or coming to the Lord for the first time. That's what I'm believing and hoping and praying for, and I hope you will too.
