Jesus is Wonderful
Well, I don't have a lot of time tonight, I have wrinkles underneath my eyes and I need to get some sleep. Tonight was the 6th night of 10 nights of prayer and worship called 10 Days of Awe at different Topeka churches.
I just want to say Jesus is wonderful and I am so glad I have been saved and there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. That means that there is condemnation for those who are not in Christ Jesus.
Even John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." I think that's right, I learned it in the King James.
Tonight, one of the ministry/worship team members shared about the woman who was caught in adultery. According to the Law, she should have been stoned and the men were all ready to stone her but Jesus came along and told her he did not condemn her and nobody else condemned her either. But then he said, "Go and sin no more." The message is clear for those who "have ears to hear."
She explained that we were like that woman. We were condemned. Without repentance we are condemned. You can choose to not believe but you are already condemned if you don't believe, and the end of that is eternal death, not life, no presence of God. Everybody's condemned as soon as they're born. It is the sin nature we are born with. We can't help that we were born sinners, but we can choose to repent because we have all sinned by choice all our life.
I have been saved for 46 years now, and like the old song says, "Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before." The only problems I really have are with myself. I can say they are because of what other people have done, but in reality, I don't have to let the things other people have done be a heavy burden I carry around. God says forgive them. And he gives us the power to do that.
Life is hard for everyone, but everyone can choose to obey God. You look around and see people depressed and on drugs and addicted to various things and being suicidal and all the rest of it and what they need is God in their life, Jesus in their life. But they think they know better than God.
Well, we can just look around and see how that's working for everybody, can't we? And the other old song I feel like a lot is, "I don't feel at home in this world anymore."
He gives us "strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow," as another old hymn goes ("Great is Thy Faithfulness"). I actually met the daughter of the man who composed the music for that song. She was a member of a church and was visiting my grandmother in the nursing home, I think. That was a special gift to me from God and makes that song, gorgeous anyway, something very special to me.
Jesus does special things for us every day if we are paying attention. I don't honestly see how people get through life without giving in to his love and mercy. Instead, they just go on doing whatever it is they think they want to do but the best some of them can do is point fingers at people like me who profess Jesus as Lord and say we couldn't be Christians because of our politics and judging others but saying we're judging them if we express something from the Bible. It's very strange but when I look in the Bible, I always find the answers for everything. I just have to care a little bit about wanting to please God, I think, not pleasing people or pleasing myself, and there's the rub. Goodnight.
