On the Beach of My Brain
Didn't get to go anywhere again
Not since I don't know when
Going on a cruise would be so fine
But I can only go there in my mind
I learned everything I wanted to learn
But I didn't earn everything I wanted to earn
I've seen what the world has to show
I've read from Melville to Thoreau
On the beach of my brain,
In the sunset of my soul,
On a plane or a train
In my mind I'm on a roll
I'm content to eat a dry dinner roll
Or shredded wheat and peaches in a bowl,
But you can't trust peaches to be sweet
So they're not always good to eat
But if you're looking for something sweet
A little bit of sugar can't be beat
Pour a little milk on top and stir
It'll be a blast from the past for sure
On the beach of my brain,
In the sunset of my soul,
On a plane or a train
In my mind I'm on a roll
If you must have something living
In your home through someone's giving
You will be forced to learn its care
But there are teachings everywhere
As soon as you have something to care for
You now have something you've got to be there for
It's best to have a dog, a cat or some plants
A person might not want to listen to your rants
On the beach of my brain,
In the sunset of my soul,
On a plane or a train
In my mind I'm on a roll
