Ten Days Till Christmas

Well, here we are at December 15, 2024, 10 days til Christmas. Seems like it really came fast. I got my packages off to New Jersey exactly three weeks before Christmas, so that was a good move. I only have a friend's gift and something for the people at work. Tonight there's a party. I made Welsh Cakes. I love them so much and they remind me of times when family got together. My family is all spread out, parents and a sibling departed, another sibling estranged and another sibling living far away. The truth is life goes faster and faster, the more years you live. It goes fast and you never know how many more years you have, especially when peers keep dying off. It's also time to think about eternity. I mean it's always time to think about eternity but especially if you keep surviving year after year. It's time to realized there is a place for people who reject Christ and never repent. I don't like to be "negative," but that is the reality. I have several people in my life I want to spend eternity with, but mostly God wants to spend eternity with them. He died on a cross and rose again, proved he was the incarnate Deity and still millions of people want nothing to do with him. When we say, "Jesus is the reason for the season," it's not just a cute thing to say. It's the truthful thing to say, and every year when Christmas rolls around we see the world looking the other way. It's really mind-boggling. I would think people would be wanting to know about this, but then again, the Bible speaks about scoffers from the beginning of time. When you think about it it can make you cry, just like I cried a few minutes ago when I thought about my late sister. She gave me an article of clothing for Christmas one year that I don't wear very often but I'm wearing it to my Christmas party tonight. I thought about her and tears came and I remember that the Lord is "keeping all our tears in a bottle." Not sure where that scripture verse is, but it came to mind. It's a Christian Christmas party. That is, most, if not all attending are probably Christians. Christians love to get together. That's how we learn now to love our enemies. Not that we have a lot of enemies within our gatherings, but there we worship and we experience God's presence and we learn about him and about his love. Today we studied the necessity of the cross and what it means to take up our cross and follow Jesus. There's a whole world out there not willing to repent, and it is necessary for salvation to follow Jesus with your whole heart, soul, mind and strength because a lot of people don't know anything about eternity. Hopefully, many people will recognize who Jesus is and come to him this year. Got to go. If I can, I'll check back in later.
