The God Who Came to Earth

The fact that God came to Earth is the central theme of the Nativity, or why we celebrate Christmas. I am beginning to think that this concept is just to weighty and impossible for most mortal minds to wrap themselves around. I have been a converted, born-again, regenerated, saved person for 46 years, but this year I have been thinking about this particular point more than I have before. He came to Earth, the Creator of the Universe, was incarnated, made flesh, born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit. He came to save us from our sin/sins, but first he had to be born. Born to die for our sins and to be raised from the dead and to send his Holy Spirit into the hearts of all who would accept his offer of forgiveness for our sins and eternal life by believing the words of the prophets, the words of Jesus, backed up by the prophets of old, and, I think, most of all, who would be made to realize they needed forgiveness from God and respond by repenting and believing in him. I do not expect to convince anyone of what I believe. Words are inadequate to express all that it means to have come to the realization that I was "lost and without hope in the world" (Ephesians 2:12). I don't remember exactly when it was I begin to read the Bible. It may or may not have been around the holiday season. But there is no doubt in my mind that there is something very special in the atmosphere around that time. It's as if the whole world is hearing something different in their ears, feeling something different in their heart, something is happening that they can't explain. If this were not so, why would so many people go out and spend money that they would never spend at any other time of the year? Yes, we know and have all heard about the "materialism" of Christmas, how merchants make tons of money and buyers get into tons of debt. I am aware of that, but that doesn't change the fact that many people truly enjoy gift giving at this time of the year for some reason. What could that reason be? Could it be that God draws near to Earth at this time in a supernatural way, or that we become more sensitive to his presence at this time of the year just because many are anticipating this season of giving? I don't know how to answer that, I just know that the holiday season is filled with something other than the desire to get in debt or get drunk or get days off. I want to close now. I don't know what else to say. Just that. God came to Earth. He came to save us. He came to save me. He came to save you. He doesn't want anyone to be lost. Sin cursed the whole planet but God came to save us. All he asks is that we turn from our own ways and seek him and his ways. Nobody has to go to the other place God did not create for people but for demons. I was blessed to have a dream about that other place. I was there. I saw, I heard, I felt what it was like. It was awful. I don't want to go into it now, but it was very real, and I believe God gave me that dream to let me know that it was real and that was where I was headed. I awoke and all I could say was, "Thank you." He has ways of getting our attention, and I pray for anyone out there who has not met Jesus personally, to experience something that will turn you to him because he will change your life for the better and there is nothing better than knowing the God Who Came to Earth and we celebrate his birth every year around this time, and I think it's wonderful. I hope you do too.
