How Do You Do unto Others?

I used to complain about cultural Christianity, but now I wish it would return. At least we might have some peace. I grew up in a world of cultural Christianity. People may not have been Christians, but they seemed to agree with most of the precepts of the Bible, without actually believing in the Bible, if you know what I mean. I mean they would take things out of context and still agree that this was a good plan. Take, for example, the "Golden Rule." In fact, we still hear this one from time to time. Doesn't mean people necessarily follow it, but they usually agree that it is a good concept. Treat others the way you want them to treat you. Right. Do we do that? In practice perhaps we actually believe in treating others the way they treat us. We have seen jokes about it, such as, "I don't get mad, I get even," and think it's kind of funny. Maybe it is, and maybe it isn't, but it may be more realistic in terms of what people actually do versus what they believe they should do. It's something to think about. Do I prefer to see someone smile when I pass them in the hall at school or would I rather see them look away or have a look of stern consternation as they pass without any acknowledgment at all? The answer is quite obvious. I am not blaming people who do not smile at everybody, I'm just saying, would you rather be smiled at or ignored? The answer is simple. I am afraid many would answer the noncommittal "I don't care," or, "I don't need anyone to smile at me." You get what I'm saying. Is this the world we have created? Looks that way sometimes. I have to leave in a few minutes. Going to church to pray. That is never a waste of time.
