Losing Daddy
Wrote this to a friend on the recent loss of her father:
Lost my dad four years ago. This morning I wrote in my journal, "The tears are not so deep today when I think of you." But...it is a long and painful journey. There's nobody like your daddy. No body...my heart grieves with you. If I were there I would just want to hold you for a long time, that's all I would want you to do for me. And cry together. knowing we are filling up that bottle the Lord is keeping for us...
Thought I'd put it on here for the one or two people that might read it. Grief is not to be hurried, grief is real, and must be felt. Don't try not to grieve. Feel it, offer it to God and let him comfort you.
If the death of a loved one were not horribly painful for those left behind perhaps we would forget that we are only here for a little while and must be mindful of eternity and where we plan to spend it.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever would believe in him would not perish but have eternal life. " John 3:16
