How to be Prosperous

How to be Prosperous January 27, 2025 If I ignore all the questionnaires, surveys and other fundraising mail, will they quit sending it? I doubt it, somehow. How about these ones that enclose checks and nickels and half dollars and quarters? This just blows my mind. Especially absurd are all the politicians in Washington, DC that are constantly asking me for money. They make more than I will make in a hundred lifetimes, and they have the nerve to hit on me for money. I don't believe that all these various agencies really need my money. They must have a huge budget for mailings, and I don't have huge budget for anything. All my life the government schools told me that Social Security would be something I could rely on in my old age. All these years the government has been robbing me while the representatives and senators become billionaires and know how to get rich off the stock market. When I was a kid I got about 3% interest on my savings account. What do I get now? One tenth of one percent? This is outrageous. So, no, I'm not going to be donating to them. The government has already enough of my money and has for my whole working life. I hear they are teaching financial literacy in high schools in several states. One source says, "Connecticut, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, Oregon, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Wisconsin in 2023 and Florida, Michigan and South Carolina in 2022." That's good. I only wish they had taught it when I was in high school. I have only one reliable source for financial information: the Bible. The Bible teaches that whoever eats should work. So, I have done that since I was 16, and am still doing it. The Bible says you should give 10% of your earnings to God, in my case, to my church. The Bible teaches that giving is a way to be blessed financially. Matthew 6:33 teaches that if you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things shall be added to you. All these things included the things Jesus mentioned previously: food and clothing basically. And in 1 Timothy 6:6-10 the Bible says," "Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." So there you have it. Tonight is the first night of our week of prayer. It's going to be a busy week, worked all day, to church for a while in the evening. In sum: Seek God, work, tithe, give and be content with food and clothing. That's basically what I wanted to write today. All week I will not have a lot of time to write, I guess. One other thing: Today at school was really challenging, and I partially attribute it to not getting enough sleep. So that is my goal for the week. Get enough sleep and lean very heavily upon God. We are only here for a little while. Instead I'm going to do my best to invest in eternity. So long for now.
