Do you want Daylight Saving Time go away?

I am not going to write much tonight because I am tired and it is cold and I need to go to bed just to stay warm, and while I'm on that subject, I don't want Daylight Saving Time to go away. I have lived for Daylight Saving Time for as long as I can remember. I just read that they tried permanent Daylight Saving Time in the 1970s but I don't remember that. Some sources say it was used during both world wars but only tried during peace time since the 1960s. So I essentially don't remember a time when there was no Daylight Saving Time. I wish they would try permanent Daylight Saving Time again and leave it that way. I hear Trump and some of his cabinet picks talking about eliminating it, and I'm not for them doing that. I haven't researched the whole thing enough to know what the reason might be for eliminating it, I am purely reacting for personal reasons, but I think people should vote on it. There is something called the Uniform Time Act of 1966, signed into law by Lyndon Johnson. From the Department of Transportation website: "Today, the Uniform Time Act of 1966 (15 U.S.C. §§ 260-64) establishes a system of uniform Daylight Saving Time throughout the Nation and its possessions, and provides that either Congress or the Secretary of Transportation can change a time-zone boundary. "Under the Uniform Time Act, as amended, States may exempt themselves from observing Daylight Saving Time by State law. If a State chooses to observe Daylight Saving Time, it must begin and end on federally mandated dates. "Daylight Saving Time is not observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and most of Arizona." So... my (limited) understanding is, then, that states can opt out of observing it, but it has federally mandated dates. It begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November. So, currently, Daylight Saving Time is ongoing for more of the year than Standard Time. Why is that? Could it be because we like it? We like it staying light past 5:00 p.m.? I can't wait for the second Sunday of March. I do not want them to eliminate Daylight Saving Time. What is your opinion about it? What is your preference? If the Secretary of Transportation can change a time-zone boundary, can he or she also eliminate Daylight Saving Time? It seems that this may be possible without repealing the Uniform Time Act of 1966, but I am not sure, but that may be the case, as these people are talking about it. I am reading that Trump's pick for Secretary of Transportation is Sean Duffy. I do not know anything about this person, but I am going to try to find out about this idea of eliminating Daylight Saving Time. I am aware that there are more critical issues for our government to attend to, but I am of the opinion that Americans should be informed citizens, and we should take part in the government in whatever capacity the laws allow. I don't know about you. I am not saying this is a hill I would die on, not saying that. It just is something I think we should have some say about. I am going to close because it is 6 degrees outside and I need to bundle up, and mentally prepare for another freezing cold day tomorrow and try to get some sleep. Signing off. Goodnight.
