Build Your House on the Rock
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Matthew 7:24-27
The Bible addresses every aspect of life. Deciding which parts of it to put into practice and which parts of it are not that important is a very unwise way to live. I am not talking about all the details of the law in the Old Testament. This was done away with the death and resurrection of Christ.
Of course, having a relationship with God is the most important, but that does not mean taking lightly whatever is written in the Bible as just something for other people in another time.
What the Word is saying is that there are serious consequences for going your own way, whether you believe it or not.
Would gravity cease to exist just because someone said they didn't believe in it? In the same way, God's word has stood the test of time and will stand the test of forever.
