The Bible No Ordinary Book

I love the Bible. It's not like any other book. It speaks. Not saying God can't use other books to speak, but the Bible really speaks. It's just so amazing. But it is also true that books or writing that includes things from the Bible speak too.

This morning I was reading in a Christmas devotional, something that was written in the first or second century and it referred to God's promise to Abraham to make his descendants as numerous as the stars, and that through Jesus Christ those who are born again are the fulfillment of that prophecy. I had never seen that before but I saw it then.

At that moment I thought about what Jesus said about us being the light of the world and that's how I started my day. It wasn't a long study session, it was not a long prayer session. I didn't earn the right to receive any inspiration from God, but there it was and the Holy Spirit made it real right then.

The Bible speaks to anyone who is seeking God.

God can speak in other ways but the Bible is no ordinary book and I just wanted to share that. Believers in Jesus Christ lived changed lives. We are not perfect but we try to be.  And if we fail, at least we know we have the resources to get back up and keep walking.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)
