The Best Thing to do With Free Time
It's when you come to him just because you love him and not because you think you have to prove something or to beg with him and plead with him about something, that the sweetest time of fellowship becomes available, and, I believe, effectiveness. God doesn't ask us to work something up, to huff and puff and push and strain. He just asks us to come (Matthew 11:28)
AND take a look at Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42). Martha was worried and troubled about much serving while Mary sat at Jesus's feet and heard the word.
The Holy Spirit is able to teach us what he wants us to do. It's so cool.
Well, I did want to share what the Lord showed me yesterday, and you can never seem to convey something the Lord shows you in a way that completely communicates it. That only the Lord can do. But here it is.
Last week he showed me John 15:7
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Yesterday I got a glimpse of the intercession of the Holy Spirit THROUGH us as we simply yield, because... the word teaches us that HE makes intercession for us day and night (see Romans 8:27 and 34 and Hebrews 7:25).
So all of that together means to me that God is pleased with us because we are in Christ, are his children, and he is working THROUGH us, so we can LET him do what he wants to do through us as we YIELD to him in love and joy. Otherwise we all become like Martha and I bet Martha was burnt out. God is not calling us to be burnt out.
And one more thing I have learned is about intercession using 2 Corinthians 10:4,5, (however God teaches you to use them) to (in prayer) pull down (Dutch Sheets calls it "demolish") strongholds of 1) pride; 2) false teaching; and 3) every strategy and thought from satan.
All this means to me that we are co-laborers with Christ and that he hears and answers our prayers and we just need to not give up, get to know him better and live a joyful, triumphant life before God and the people he has placed us with. God is at work.
By the way, have you noticed what happened to the "largest landfalling Pacific hurricane on record" now turned into a tropical depression? Hurricane Patricia. A LOT of people were praying and look what the Lord has done! Doesn't matter that a lot of people who don't believe might say...
