Is Bernie Sanders Really a Socialist?
A friend of mine sent me a link after I re-posted on Facebook a post about Bernie Sanders and Jesus, saying that they were both Jewish and both Socialists. He had commented that Jesus was a Jew but not a socialist. I then made some comments about maybe we should define our terms, so he sent me a link with the definition of a socialist.

And then I responded:
Thanks, Man. Appreciated it. I guess the deal is that many people who self-identify now as "socialist" have a different view of it these days. (Maybe they don't even know what it means and should do some research.) Because I tend to respond a lot by intuition without necessarily researching before I re-post something, the first time I heard people refer to Bernie Sanders as a socialist I said, "Why would he be one and why would anybody want to vote for a socialist?" But my brother likes him so I try to understand his point of view. To tell you the truth I think Sanders may be just using the term (if indeed he is the one using it about himself) to draw attention to the fact that he is against "corporations owning the country" and against capitalism run amok (i.e., wealthy entrepreneurs motivated by greed giving money to our lawmakers, thus running the country for personal gain). So I guess maybe he does want the government to control industry rather than vice-versa. I don't know. I just thought it was a humorous post. And people who think of Jesus as a socialist are probably thinking of the fact that he obviously cared about the poor, which people who would support Bernie Sanders obviously don't believe the other politicians do. So that's really about all I know about this subject and thanks for enlightening me!!!
