I'm So Glad Jesus Set Me Free!
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life -- is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever" (NKVJ, I John 2:15-17).
Students in American history class are doing "decade projects." Today they did the 70s and the 80s. I jotted down in my journal what I was doing during those decades. The 70s were without Christ. The 80s were with. What a contrast! And I just realized how glad I am that I no longer am enslaved by the world, the flesh and the devil, sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll, and all evil deception, destruction, lying, stealing and killing that the enemy of our soul is working in the world to destroy forever lives created in God's image through addiction, suicide, murder, stealing, materialism, political power, fame, fortune, the praise of man and all manner of sin and rebellion against the One who made them and to Whom they will one day give an account. Today I am just so-o-o glad that God the King of the Universe and Lord of Life opened my eyes to the truth that set me free. The kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. Peace, love, joy? It's ONLY found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
