Thankful for the Presence of God
What I appreciate about the Holy Spirit is his constant presence. There has not been a day in 36 years that I have not felt his presence. Cannot understand how you could ever not feel his presence if you lived some odd years without him and then have him. But then some people's lives are not as radically changed as mine was, perhaps. I don't know.
I am not poking fun at anyone who has ever doubted their salvation. Life is tough for everyone. But what I love about trusting in Christ and having him living in me is that it doesn't matter how lonely I may be feeling or how awful things may look, I always have the witness of his presence in me and there is no high that measures up to that. There is no good fortune. There is nothing that compares with that.
And it's not a matter of working something up or being addicted to his spirit or the high that he gives or being zapped or having visions or anything like that. It is that he is with me in my life everywhere I go.
I read once a picture of that in the story of his turning water into wine. The application was that he turns the ordinary into extraordinary. He brightens up the darkness. He fills the emptiness. His presence makes all the difference.
Life is no longer a problem of ups and downs and being OK if everything is going my way. Again, I don't know what that would look like. If you have, I'm happy for you but for me I fall so short of that like I said, life is a new ball game for me practically every day though I am learning contentment, thank God.
BECAUSE of the presence of God. BECAUSE of his favor. BECAUSE of who he is. BECAUSE of his love and mercy. BECAUSE he keeps working all the time and making me aware of what he is doing to make me more like him. Not because of any other perks though they may be plentiful.
I have kicked and screamed for 36 years in many ways in ways that may be visible and others that may not. But God keeps being faithful and most of all he never leaves. And I am thankful for that today.
