Let Life Go On
Tomorrow's the first day of Christmas break
As usual, I've gone and stayed up too late
Almost tripped over a box, had to bring it in and open it
It was a hat, gloves and scarf from my loved ones in Hoboken
Late to church as usual, my turn to play the bass
Why does every day feel like we're in a race?
Came home for about two hours
Threw away the dead birthday flowers
Had people in my life but one by one they died
One of them said I wouldn't lose them but they lied
They were true to themselves, and now they're gone
But if you can, give it to God and let life go on
Ate some chili mac and then went back
To church at 5 o'clock for service in the dark
Trying not to waste the rest of my life
The simple truth sometimes cuts like a knife
I still have my church, a handful of them to boot
People leave your life because they disapprove
They can't forgive you or they just don't care
Or they made a vow that they would not be there
Had people in my life but one by one they died
One of them said I wouldn't lose them but they lied
They were true to themselves, and now they're gone
But if you can, give it to God and let life go on
