Don't Want to Argue About Politics Anymore
I don't want to argue about politics anymore. I have had a lifelong aversion to politics going all the way back to when my father was Judge of the Probate and Juvenile Courts of Shawnee County Kansas, for most of the years of my young life, during the years I refer to as "the golden years."
Those years were golden because my parents were still together. It was pretty obvious to me even as a young child that political gatherings were filled with people motivated mostly by the desire to promote themselves, and children are pretty good at spotting authenticity or the lack thereof.
I wouldn't go so far as to blame politics for the breakup of my parents' marriage, although I would not completely rule it out either. I repeat, I don't want to argue about politics anymore.
I am not watching television these days; I am reading. I want to inform myself. I believe that is my responsibility as a citizen of a Constitutional Republic. I am currently interested in what the Democrats are referring to as Fascism, because I am sensing that the whole discussion is based on different perspectives on what the term even means.
In other words, the entire argument reeks of politics. And what I mean by politics is simply twisting terms to manipulate others, and that is exactly what I see happening. We have basically two sides, the Right and the Left. I am on the right, so according to Democrats, who are on the Left, that qualifies me as "fascist."
I am tempted to get real focused now on the details of this argument, but, again, I don't want to argue about politics anymore. I don't.
I read from the AI Overview that, "Fascism is a far-right, ultranationalist, and authoritarian political ideology that prioritizes the nation above all else, opposing democracy, individual rights, and pluralism in favor of totalitarian state control and often a glorification of violence and a cult of personality." From this, the people on the Left conclude that Republicans, particularly Trump Republicans (or MAGA Republicans) are "fascists." You are welcome to dig deeper than this, but all I want to say is that it is quite a stretch to call MAGA Republicans "fascists."
I don't want to argue about politics anymore. I want to talk about other things. I think arguing about politics is a fruitless endeavor. If we are going to argue about something, let us argue about POLICY, not politics.
For one thing, this identification of MAGA Republicans as “fascists” as engaging in a "glorification of violence and a cult of personality," I don't see the Right doing that, I see the Left doing that. They accuse the Right of "worshiping Trump," therefore, we must believe that their name-calling is correct, but what should we call their virulent hatred of Trump?
The Right has dubbed their Trump hatred as "Trump Derangement Syndrome," aka TDS. Both of these tendencies add up to a fixation on a person, in my opinion. So, no, that is not Fascism. That is, if the Right is "fascist" for loving Trump, the Left is "fascist" for hating him. It's different sides of the same coin. It’s all part of a “cult of personality.”
So how far is "far-right," and how far is "far-left?" Is this not debatable? In my humble opinion, the far-left, which is now embracing "democratic socialism," is closer to Fascism, and more dangerous, than the far-right, which embraces representative republicanism.
I have already dived deeper than I intended, but let me just finish up on this AI Overview of Fascism. What, exactly, is "ultranationalism?" Is that loving your country and believing it is special in all the world? Or is that not just what we used to call patriotism? What is authoritarian? Making all kinds of regulations and rules about the environment and what kind of car you can drive not authoritarian?
Do you see where this is going? It is all so phony. And how can they call the MAGA movement Fascism by saying they “oppose democracy, individual rights and pluralism in favor of totalitarian state control?” How far off what the Right believes could they possibly get?
So, I am just not buying the Left's accusation of MAGA (as they so lovingly like to refer to it as if it were a dirty word) as "fascist." None of it makes an ounce of sense. And with that I am done for this Friday night rant because, as I said, I don't want to argue about politics anymore. If you want to argue, let's argue about POLICY. Problem is, I know this is not going to happen. Everyone seems to be addicted to this whole sick process. And I'm done with it. So, God bless you, have a good weekend and goodnight.
