Always Something to Miss
Always Something to Miss
Do you have anything you miss? The author of Sarah, Plain and Tall says, "There's always something to miss." Somehow that statement just really hit home with me when I read it yesterday to the kids.
I have read that book and its sequel, Skylark, this year and last with a class of third-graders. I am reading these books sometimes I will get so touched I get choked up in front of the kids. Sometimes I actually have to hold back the tears or say, "Guys, I'm going to cry," and, well, you can do this with kids and you can do it with some people..
Don't know if it's getting old, getting closer to the Lord or both, but it's all right. Wish I could write like that but I can't so I can enjoy reading what other people write.
I miss my dad (died in 2011), I miss my cat (died in 2013), I miss my dog (died in 2016), I miss my mom. She's alive but can't talk. I miss my former husband who doesn't like to talk to me anymore although we were friends for 37 years after the divorce but now we're not (kind of like getting divorced all over again!)..
I miss my friend Robbi who moved to Ohio two summers ago. I miss my brother who lives in New Jersey.
I miss some people who I thought were my friends but moved away and apparently aren't my friends anymore.
There's always something (or someone) to miss. I know there will be responses like Scripture verses or things like that. Not asking for that. I know Jesus is the Answer. To everything. For everything. Just think being human seems to include always having something (or someone) to miss. Not trying to impress anybody. or recruit you to my cause or ask for your support. Just something t\o think about.
If you have any thoughts on this I would love to hear them.
