Jesus means Joshua, the "war on Christmas" and Facebook friends
I just read today that Joshua is Jesus in Hebrew (I don't know if I ever knew that) and that Jesus is Greek for Joshua. Being a very audial person I have actually always liked the sound of Joshua better, somehow (and actually I like Jesus better in Spanish than in English). Didn't know it meant the same thing (that is, Jehovah is generous; Jehovah SAVES).
It's what it means that's important, not what it sounds like but just another little golden nugget from the Lord. God is so good. No matter what name you choose. The one who was promised (in the Hebrew Scripture), our Savior and Lord.
Especially during this time of year let's remember about "good will toward men" and (just my opinion) try not to be so political/theological about everything. We can't save anybody but we can love them.
Standing for righteousness, yes; but whining about the "war on Christmas" and stuff like that? Really. Let's not do that. Let's just live the life of joy and peace and love God gave us and learn how to love people. Preach the gospel? Of course. Jesus commanded us to do that. Rub people's faces in it? No. This he did not command us to do.
Just my little two cents worth. I love Jesus today. He is saving me from myself. He gives peace and joy during every circumstance. I know this is a tough time of year for lots of people, especially single people, especially recovering people. I can relate. I am thankful for all my Facebook friends. I am so glad you are in my life if even kind of superficially on social media. Still, it is good to to know you. You are loved.
