By This Everyone Will Know

This morning was hearing a guy on Focus on the Family talking about what Jesus meant when He said His kingdom was "not of this world." About how the early church "turned the world upside down" by loving God and loving their neighbors as themselves
and by being an example to the world of how "on earth as it is in heaven" should look (godly lives, godly marriages, godly relationships)! What I'm going to say now is not a reflection of what the Focus guy said, but only my reflection.

We think things have changed. We're so much smarter now. Now Christians seem to always be focusing on things like how we should enter politics and who should be president and who should be our elected officials (just like they were in Jesus' day, hoping He would become the political ruler!).

We seem to think "on earth as it is in heaven" means:

more manifestations of the Spirit in our worship services (!)

more spectacular miracles (mm-hm?)

mixing new age ideas with our theology (just because it says so in the Bible doesn't mean we should actually live by it...right?)

and..I won't even go there...

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35 NIV).
