Don't Fight the Darkness; Turn on the Light

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (Philippians 4:8 ESV)
Because of the truth in this saying, my maxim for today is this:
Whatever PERSON, PLACE or THING does NOT draw you closer to truth, honor, justice, purity and loveliness; or to whatever is commendable, excellence or praiseworthy, ought to be avoided.
As my good friend Jan Bryant-Gauntt advised me yesterday, when you are in the dark, you don't fight the darkness; you turn on the light.
