Staying Busy, Spring Break, Taco Casa, The Great Santini
Sorry for being inactive for so long. I guess I've been staying busy...
Everybody runs around, staying busy. They'll even tell you that.
"How are you?"
"Staying busy," they'll say.
Sometimes I think staying busy is the curse of this day and age. I think I'll go home and have a cup of tea with my dog. That's as busy as I want to be today.
This is Spring Break, so I have no substituting all week. I was supposed to have jury duty but never had to go in. I choose to think of that as rather miraculous. They could have summoned me while school was in session and I would have had to turn down jobs.
Since I have blogged last, I have been laid off and have become a substitute teacher. Let me tell you, that will test your faith.
I have learned to love refried beans with salsa and cheese from Taco Casa in Topeka. Not because of substitute teaching but because of going back and forth from the library. That is, prayer meeting at noon, Taco Casa on the way to the library.Yum. Much better than Taco Bell. Much more, too, for the price.
At the library I check email and check Facebook.. To be honest, I don't want to spend a lot of time on Facebook. I think it's an addiction, kind of like drinking or gambling or something. So I'm actually glad I don't have the Internet right now.
I'm learning to live on practically nothing since I've been laid off. It's become kind of an art. On Spring Break I've been eating cinnamon raisin toast for breakfast, refried beans with salsa and cheese for lunch and who knows what for dinner? Oh, actually, yesterday I had a wonderful slice of cocoanut meringue pie from Dillon's. Yum. That was because I turned down the one at the library that made my mouth water. I chose instead to have the wonderful vegetable soup they have with club crackers. Sometimes you have to make these type of decisions. Oh, yeah. For dinner, I had broccoli and cheese sauce and watched the Great Santini. What a film. The horrible part was almost too horrible for me though as long as it's been since I saw it, I had forgotten it. Maybe it's best forgotten but still a great film. Robert Duvall gets my vote for best actor ever.
So who cares who gets my vote for best actor ever? I don't know. Nobody, I guess, but everybody has a favorite actor, don't they? He was also great in The Apostle.
The library has just given me the "Your session ends in 15 minutes" message. This means that every five minutes I will get a pop-up concerning this and be quite distracted. Therefore, I'm going to leave you for the moment. I shall try to come and blog more often. It's hard to teach an old...well you know what I mean.
I love you. Goodbye for now.
